Unconventional Spaces, a concert series
Battle of the Bands in Lakeland was a huge success! Thank you Ovation Bistro and Solar Source for sponsoring the event and helping us reach our $1,000 goal! We were able to pay all of our annual business expenses to renew our nonprofit so that we can keep in operation! We are still currently accepting instrument donations for our sponsored instrument program. We are also working on matching three open lesson spots for guitar and 2 for bass for over the summer. We are starting a new concert series called Unconventional Spaces, a DIY concert series that seeks to bring music to unconventional spaces in the Central Florida area. We are currently working with some Central Florida Small businesses to bring the concert series to their area as well as other spaces in Polk and Hillsborough county. We will be hosting both youth and adult ensembles for this series and raising money for Project No Labels mental health program. THe mission
Young Musicians face many barriers to entry when trying to enter the music field. These can be anywhere from sexual orientation, gender identity, race to physical ability. Cordero Music seeks to tear down those barriers and provide all young musicians with the tools to succeed in the music industry.
We offer sponsored private lessons with vetted music coaches. Musicians can take these lessons during their music elective in school (with permission of their teacher), at home, or at the coach’s studio space.
We offer sponsored musical instruments! Musicians who can’t afford a quality instrument must submit an application with essay questions answered and one recommendation letter from a mentor, teacher, coach, or family member. Musicians are then provided with the equipment they need to be successful.
